Important Things to Know

  • Non-extendable: The VOA cannot be extended beyond 15 days. Plan your trip within this limit
  • Overstaying: Carry hefty fines, possible deportation, and future entry bans
  • Tourism only: You cannot work or do business on a VOA
  • Long queues: VOA counters can be very busy — arrive early and apply online e-VOA if possible

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Not carrying enough cash (10,000 THB minimum per person)
  • Passport validity less than 30 days from arrival
  • No return ticket — officers may ask for proof
  • Wrong counter — make sure you join the VOA queue, not the regular immigration queue

⚠️ Always verify the latest requirements with the official Thai Immigration Bureau before travel — rules can change.
